January at Rare

I spend a good deal of my free time hiking at the Rare Charitable Reserve.  Unfortunately, some of these images are not as sharp as they could be due to technical errors on my part.  Also, the eagle caught me off guard with the wrong setting.  But what a sight he was, flying right over me at low altitude and speed, with a wingspan longer than I am tall- over 6'!   Enjoy these photos, and get outside, eh!  Uncle Travelling Dan

This adult bald eagle flew over while I was hiking at the Rare Grand Allee.

The same eagle was soaring over the south field at the Grand Allee at dusk on January 14th.

I spotted this muskrat across from Rare HQ.

This chickadee was in the Hogsback.

I caught this red-tail hawk snacking near the Grand Allee the day after I saw the eagle over the same field.

A few minutes later I spotted this white-tailed deer...

And these ones.

This is a hairy woodpecker in the Hogsback on January 22.

This pileated woodpecker was also in the Hogsback on the same day.

I think he found plenty of food!

This is a dinosaur track!! Oh, alright, it is actually a turkey track.

This was an interesting sight behind the Springback farm.

What a great way to finish a hike at the Grand Allee of Rare!
